Central Jakarta, Komdigi – President Prabowo Subianto is accelerating the establishment of the Indonesia International Financial Center (IIFC) as an effort to strengthen Indonesia's competitiveness as an investment destination and an international-class financial services hub.

Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, stated that President Prabowo has requested that the establishment of the Indonesia International Financial Center be immediately followed up after its legal foundation received approval from the House of Representatives (DPR).

"The implementation plan for the Indonesia International Financial Center—thank God, the law has been approved by the DPR—and the President has asked for it to be followed up immediately. Indeed, the plan is for it to be established in Bali, but preparation is needed, perhaps for 2 or 3 years, until it becomes an international-class financial center and will also allow investors to see [its potential]," said Rosan in a press statement to the media after a Limited Cabinet Meeting led by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday (23/07/2026).

According to Rosan, the government has seen a very positive response from investors regarding the plan to establish the international financial center. He revealed that a few days earlier, he had met with a number of investors in Bali to convey the plan.

"A few days ago, I also went to Bali and met with 11 investors from family offices and others, and the response has been very, very positive regarding the existence of the financial center that will be in Indonesia," he said.

Rosan explained that during the transition period leading up to the construction of the main zone in Bali, the government will commence operations of the Indonesia International Financial Center in Jakarta. This transition period is expected to last two to three years while preparing various institutional frameworks and supporting infrastructure.

"Perhaps during this transition period, in the next two or three years, it will be set up first in Jakarta during this transitional phase before being further developed, possibly in Jakarta as well as Bali," said Rosan.

To support the initial phase of implementation, the government has prepared a building to be used as the operational location for the international financial center in Jakarta. Furthermore, Rosan explained that Danantara will act as the zone developer, while the management of the Indonesia International Financial Center will be led by a zone chairman and a governor who will later be responsible for building all the systems and governance so that the financial center can operate optimally.

"Danantara acts as the zone developer, but the financial center itself will later be led by a zone chairman and a governor who will set up all the necessary apparatus so that the financial center can function properly and correctly," said Rosan.

The establishment of the Indonesia International Financial Center is part of the government's strategic steps to strengthen the national investment ecosystem. Through the acceleration of this international-class financial services hub, President Prabowo hopes that Indonesia will become increasingly competitive in attracting global investment, expanding access to financing, and driving sustainable economic growth.
